What has happned to my favourite show?

What Has Happened to My Favourite Show?

So, there is two little things I want to stay before I make a start to my post. The first is that Doctor Who is still my favourite show and always will be, I just want to talk about what's happening with it at the moment. Second is that I am prejudging a bit but I am trying to stay open minded about the two latest developments.

So, Series 10 of Doctor Who is about to start filming on the 20th June which is amazing even if we don't see it till next year but along with this was two blows to the stomach. The first is that Matt Lucas will be returning to the show back in the role of Nardole. Wait, wasn't Nardole beheaded in The Husbands of River Song. Yes he was. Did we every see his head reunited with his body. No. Does this mean we will see The Doctor and Bill running around with the giant mechanical body of King Hydroflax. Its not like this a one-off appearance, Moffat has said "Delighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS – and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around. One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space." So Matt Lucas is a new companion  I guess.

Next we have the news that Frank Cottrell-Boyce is returning to write a new episode. My question is, Why? 'In The Forest of the Night' was in the opinions of the fans, the worst episode of Series 8. So, are we in for another episode that fails or are we in for an excellent episode? Only time will tell but I will be thinking the prior for the time being.

Finally, this was not revealed in this latest interview but I think I should mention it. Peter Capaldi has said that he has filmed a scene for the New Series with Jenna Coleman. The quote from him is "I just shot something that Clara was still there in…" This could mean one of two things either Jenna is in Series 10 or they are both in Class. If it is Series 10, bad, if it is Class, still bad but better.

So that my thoughts on the recent Series 10 news. Please comment your thoughts down below. Thanks for reading and goodbye for now.

Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

I know what you are thinking but don’t click off, I know that we shouldn’t have a female Doctor but hear me out. It’s become pretty evident since series 6 that we will probably be getting a female Doctor soon, so I’ve sat around thinking of whom it should be and I narrowed it down to two Hayley Atwell or Maggie Smith. So you can see my answer Maggie Smith but it was a very hard choice and now I’ll be explaining why my choice is Maggie Smith.

Harry Potter

This explanation couldn’t be written without mentioning this role, the role that most people know her for, Professor Minerva McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor and then Head of Hogwarts. What an amazing performance she gave in this franchise, a scene that really stands out to me is when she fights Snape to protect Harry in film 8; I can just imagine that as The Doctor and The Master fighting. She brings an air of wisdom to the character which would be amazing for The Doctor.

Ratings Situation

Right this is what turned me away from having Atwell as the first female Doctor and it’s something I’m naming the Tennant-Smith situation. This is where an attractive actor/actress is cast as The Doctor causing the rating to go up, right sounds good so far. But when we eventually get an older actor/actress rating will plummet, as we lose the fake fans that came to see the previous as eye candy. This may lead to a cancellation/hiatus of Doctor Who again. So if we start with an older actress we will not be in this situation.

So there my reasoning on why Maggie Smith should be the first female Doctor, my question for you today is who would you like as a female Doctor and why? I’ll see you next time on The One Whovian

Who Addicts Interview

Who Addicts Interview
Two weeks ago I started this blog and for two weeks I've been thinking about what I should post, I thought I wanted to do interviews on this blog, so I took to finding somebody to interview and they accepted, you know them from YouTube (and the title of this post) it's Who Addicts Reviews, before I get into the interview, firstly please subscribe to them as they are so close to hitting 10,000 and secondly please comment which Whotubers you would like me to interview in the future.

Favourite Big Finish Doctor and why?
James: My favourite Big Finish Doctor is Colin Baker's Sixth Doctor because he had been given far better stories in Big Finish than he did in his televised run and his Doctor had developed a lot more in the audios too.
Matthew : It has to be 8, I don't know if it's because I loved him so much on screen so I want to hear as much of him on Big Finish but his audios are very VERY good! I NEED DARK EYES NOW!
The Wedding of River Song or Last Christmas?
James : That is a tough one! I'd have to go with 'Last Christmas' just because I prefer Peter Capaldi to Matt Smith.
Matthew: Has to be Last Christmas, I mean there both REALLY unbearable but I feel like Last Christmas has a more rewarding end whereas The Wedding of River Song was just a horrible mess
Favourite Classic story and why?
James: My favourite classic story is 1970's 'Inferno'. What's not to love? It's the Third Doctor at his best I think and it was a very brilliant concept for the Doctor to enter a parallel universe. Also, Nick Courtney is superb as Brigade Leader.
Matthew : It's a tie between Caves of Androzani and the War Games, two incredible stories, the War Games was so revolutionary introducing the Time Lords but Caves had such a compelling story (apart from Peri's anatomy) it really depends what mood I'm in right now I'd say The War Games
Favourite Classic Doctor and Why?
James : My favourite classic Doctor is Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor. Pertwee had swagger before that word was even invented! He had Bessie, countless gadgets and U.N.I.T! He was the first actor to make the Doctor truly cool!
Matthew : Has to be the 2nd Doctor, I've grew to love them all but the second Doctor gave the character a completely new side, and was much more fun yet sometimes rather dark, and plus if it wasn't for the great job Troughton did Who wouldn't be here today so we owe him a lot
Favourite New Series Episode and Why?
James: If I'm allowed to cheat I'd say the recent Zygon two parter from Series 9 because it was such a thrilling story.
Matthew: Waters of Mars. It's just perfection, the characters were great the setting was chlostrophobic, the villain was so simple yet so scary and the Doctor MY GOD! The evil time lord came out big time! It was Doctor Who and David Tennant at its very best!
Favourite New Series Doctor and Why?
James: Peter Capaldi! Why? Have you seen those eyebrows?
Matthew : Again 10! He was my Doctor who I grew up with but he also has many layers to him, he can be fun and lovable and very humane but also very harsh and angry and dangerous too, I just love him
How did you become fans of Doctor Who?
James: I've told this so many times on the channel so I'll tell the short version. I saw a large billboard back in 2005 and it said 'Doctor Who: Coming Soon' with Chris and Billie on it and it intrigued me just by the title and I've never looked back! I owe a lot to that billboard!
Matthew : I have to credit my mother for this. She introduced me to Rose back in 2005 telling me it's a show she used to watch and she wanted to know if I'd like it and I've been addicted ever since
How did the both of you meet?
James: I'd rather not think of the horrific day I met Matthew Rowney! πŸ˜› Jk I'll let Matthew answer that one.
Matthew: A friend of ours introduced us to each other a long 13 years ago, how I've coped I don't know, the worst 13 years of my life....
How did you both meet Ben?
James : That's funny actually because I was just watching this vlog last night. We first met Ben over a year ago when we were meeting Colin Baker at Sci Fi Scarborough and since then, Ben has became a very good friend.
Matthew : We met Ben as a normal subscriber! I really liked his channel anyway but we bumped into him at Sci-fi Scarborough back in 2014 and over the last 18 months we've met up more and more, met each other’s families, went to conventions together and most recently even London together, he's one of my best mates now, that's the power of YouTube!
EWAP, will it happen again?
James : Will EWAP happen again? It's happened twice now so I'm absolutely certain that it will happen again
Matthew : All I'm saying is, Cardiff Summer 2016, watch this space...
What are your thoughts on Clara’s death?
James : Have to watch our 'Face the Raven' review for that! Thought you'd get an answer out of me there didn't you?
Matthew : Go and check out our Face the Raven review for more but in one word...SHOCKING
What made you start the channel?
James : I had started a solo Doctor Who channel called The Who Addict, just a few days after 'Name of the Doctor' had aired. I showed the channel to Matthew and he had the genius idea of making it a channel we'd do together.
Matthew : It was James who created the channel called The Who Addict originally just for him until I gate crashed it! Best gate crash I've ever made!
How did Hermits United begin?
James : It was a Facebook group chat to begin with, so many people are part of it now I've forgotten who the original hermits were. I think Tom was one?
Matthew : I honestly can't remember, it began with just me, James, Tom, Owen and Harry and the rest I guess is history
Who would you like to take over Jenna Coleman?
James : I want the show to break out of this constant formula they have. Always human from 21st Century Earth! Think outside the box!!
Matthew : Frobisher.
What are your thoughts on Capaldi?
James : He's Scottish and loves punk rock music! That's perfection in my book.
Matthew : Incredible actor! Brilliant doctor! He was on course to being maybe my favourite but the whole rocker gimmick may of ruined that for me, but as a rebel he's one of/ if not my favourite, nevertheless less, BRILLIANT actor!
Have you read the Titan Comics yet?
James : No, I haven't! Only just got into Big Finish but give me time.
Matthew : Nope never been into comics unfortunately
Who has been your favourite actor to meet?
James : Probably recently with Michelle Gomez, such an insane human being! And I love her!
Matthew : Peter Capaldi at the Doctor Who Festival! He's no different from on tv, he was so kind and so lovely
Have you been star struck meeting any of the other Hermits?
James : Yes! All of them! All together I've met all Hermits apart from Wesley and Owen. Seeing them on a YouTube screen and then talking to them in person was just strange, in a good way.
Matthew : Meeting Tom was really strange for the first time but we've known each other for so long now it's just like meeting up with a mate really
Do you think Cornel Wilson will make a cameo in The Kent Chronicles?
James : The Colonel has got a gun to my head right now! So I can't say anything! 😰 SEND HELP!
Matthew : Not a clue, that's for James and Jay to answer
What advice would you give somebody starting a channel?
James : Sounds clichΓ© but be yourself! Never try to be funny or pretend to be something you're not. An audience can pick up on that.
Matthew : Be yourself and stick to your guns! Don't lie to be liked, be honest and just have fun with it! Make videos to the best quality and make them as relevant as you can! Also controversial videos get you lots of views and attention, believe me I know πŸ˜‰
What would you like to say to your 7,579 subscribers?
James: There are no words for how awesome our subs are, especially Liam Egan πŸ˜‰ cheers for the questions pal!
Matthew : I don't know where to start, just thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone who has taken even a second out of their day to watch and enjoy our content, you're the reason we keep doing what we do and while you guys enjoy it we will keep doing it, your kindness and generosity is amazing we are so blessed to have such amazing subscribers as we do, may it continue!
