Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

I know what you are thinking but don’t click off, I know that we shouldn’t have a female Doctor but hear me out. It’s become pretty evident since series 6 that we will probably be getting a female Doctor soon, so I’ve sat around thinking of whom it should be and I narrowed it down to two Hayley Atwell or Maggie Smith. So you can see my answer Maggie Smith but it was a very hard choice and now I’ll be explaining why my choice is Maggie Smith.

Harry Potter

This explanation couldn’t be written without mentioning this role, the role that most people know her for, Professor Minerva McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor and then Head of Hogwarts. What an amazing performance she gave in this franchise, a scene that really stands out to me is when she fights Snape to protect Harry in film 8; I can just imagine that as The Doctor and The Master fighting. She brings an air of wisdom to the character which would be amazing for The Doctor.

Ratings Situation

Right this is what turned me away from having Atwell as the first female Doctor and it’s something I’m naming the Tennant-Smith situation. This is where an attractive actor/actress is cast as The Doctor causing the rating to go up, right sounds good so far. But when we eventually get an older actor/actress rating will plummet, as we lose the fake fans that came to see the previous as eye candy. This may lead to a cancellation/hiatus of Doctor Who again. So if we start with an older actress we will not be in this situation.

So there my reasoning on why Maggie Smith should be the first female Doctor, my question for you today is who would you like as a female Doctor and why? I’ll see you next time on The One Whovian
