What has happned to my favourite show?

What Has Happened to My Favourite Show?

So, there is two little things I want to stay before I make a start to my post. The first is that Doctor Who is still my favourite show and always will be, I just want to talk about what's happening with it at the moment. Second is that I am prejudging a bit but I am trying to stay open minded about the two latest developments.

So, Series 10 of Doctor Who is about to start filming on the 20th June which is amazing even if we don't see it till next year but along with this was two blows to the stomach. The first is that Matt Lucas will be returning to the show back in the role of Nardole. Wait, wasn't Nardole beheaded in The Husbands of River Song. Yes he was. Did we every see his head reunited with his body. No. Does this mean we will see The Doctor and Bill running around with the giant mechanical body of King Hydroflax. Its not like this a one-off appearance, Moffat has said "Delighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS – and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around. One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space." So Matt Lucas is a new companion  I guess.

Next we have the news that Frank Cottrell-Boyce is returning to write a new episode. My question is, Why? 'In The Forest of the Night' was in the opinions of the fans, the worst episode of Series 8. So, are we in for another episode that fails or are we in for an excellent episode? Only time will tell but I will be thinking the prior for the time being.

Finally, this was not revealed in this latest interview but I think I should mention it. Peter Capaldi has said that he has filmed a scene for the New Series with Jenna Coleman. The quote from him is "I just shot something that Clara was still there in…" This could mean one of two things either Jenna is in Series 10 or they are both in Class. If it is Series 10, bad, if it is Class, still bad but better.

So that my thoughts on the recent Series 10 news. Please comment your thoughts down below. Thanks for reading and goodbye for now.

Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

Why would Maggie Smith make a great first female Doctor?

I know what you are thinking but don’t click off, I know that we shouldn’t have a female Doctor but hear me out. It’s become pretty evident since series 6 that we will probably be getting a female Doctor soon, so I’ve sat around thinking of whom it should be and I narrowed it down to two Hayley Atwell or Maggie Smith. So you can see my answer Maggie Smith but it was a very hard choice and now I’ll be explaining why my choice is Maggie Smith.

Harry Potter

This explanation couldn’t be written without mentioning this role, the role that most people know her for, Professor Minerva McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor and then Head of Hogwarts. What an amazing performance she gave in this franchise, a scene that really stands out to me is when she fights Snape to protect Harry in film 8; I can just imagine that as The Doctor and The Master fighting. She brings an air of wisdom to the character which would be amazing for The Doctor.

Ratings Situation

Right this is what turned me away from having Atwell as the first female Doctor and it’s something I’m naming the Tennant-Smith situation. This is where an attractive actor/actress is cast as The Doctor causing the rating to go up, right sounds good so far. But when we eventually get an older actor/actress rating will plummet, as we lose the fake fans that came to see the previous as eye candy. This may lead to a cancellation/hiatus of Doctor Who again. So if we start with an older actress we will not be in this situation.

So there my reasoning on why Maggie Smith should be the first female Doctor, my question for you today is who would you like as a female Doctor and why? I’ll see you next time on The One Whovian
